His parents were Robert Aitken (deceased), a cotton weaver, and Isobel Aitken maiden name McNicol (deceased). He died from "senile decay," two years in origin. The informant on the death certificate was Andrew Dunn, his borhter-in-law.

This was the arcade in front of the old Outrigger Canoe Club on Kalakaua Avenue, now the site of the Outrigger Hotel. In a later (December 1944) advertisement it appears that Wilkie's Florist was then known as Outrigger Florist.
