I'm searching for the family of William Crumpler who married Sarah D. Mason.

They lived in Nashville, Davidson County, TN from about 1836 to about 1850

where their children were born. Their children: Elizabeth b.1837, Huldah America b. 1838,

Elijah b. 1839, William Thomas b. 16 Mar 1844, Nancy b.1848, Lewis H. b. 1848, and

Benjamin R. b. abt 1850.

I have no information on the father, William. His family was in Morgan County, Illinois

in 1853 when Huldah married Clark Herron. Sarah signed their marriage license.

By 1860, Sarah must have died because her children were all living in different households

in Morgan County. There are do death or cemetery listings for either Sarah or for

her husband, William.

I can really use some help with this family. Thanks.

Donna,

My name is Tammy Crumpler and I reside in Springfield, IL. I am the daughter of Ron Crumpler, who is the son of Marvin Crumpler, who is the son of Virgil Crumpler. Up to my great grandfather is as far as I know the names of my Crumpler lineage. I do know that my great grandfather Virgil had brothers but do not know much more. Your post has sparked my curiosity, and I am going to do some digging and see what I can come up with. This is the first time I have been to this site and I have found it quite interesting. The fact that William had 7 children and that Morgan County is next door to Sangamon County (which is where I live), I believe it is possible that one of those children could be an ancestor of mine. I will post again if I find a connection.

To the rest of the Crumplers out there, I would like to say "Hello", I was never aware there were so many of us.

I have found a little more on Sarah, the wife of William Crumpler. She was

actually Sarah Malissa Crumpler and she remarried following the death of

William. She married an Isaac Wade and had two more children.

Sarah and William Crumpler had the following children:

Elizabeth born 1837

Hulda born 1838

Elijah born 1839

William Thomas born 1844

Nancy born 1848

Lewis H. born 1848 (twins?)

Benjamin born abt 1850

All the children were born in Nashville, Davidson County, TN.

There was also a Raiford Crumpler in Davidson County and he was

there about 1796. I need to find more information on this Raiford

as well as on my William. I am sure that they are connected, but

cannot find the info I need to make that connection.

Any help on the Crumpler families in Davidson County would be greatly

appreciated as I have been stuck on this family for many years.

Matthew Crumpler, Sr. (c1743-c1812) son of John Crumpler (?) had three

sons, Matthew, Raiford and John and a daughter, Lucy, in Sampson County,

North Carolina. John remained in Sampson County and Lucy went to Georgia.

Does anyone know the children of Matthew and Raiford who went to Tennessee?

They both served in the War of 1812 and Raiford is only found on the early

records, then disappears, but the early census records for that area, Dickson

County, were destroyed. I am trying to find the father of my William Crumpler

b. abt 1815 who married Sarah Mason about 1836 in Tennessee. I have

info on Rayford M. Crumpler, John G. Crumpler, Matthew Crumpler, and more

in Dickson County, TN who would have been the children of either Matthew or

Raiford from Sampson County, North Carolina. Both Matthew and Raiford were

listed on the early census indexes for Sampson County, I believe 1790, 1800

and 1810. Does anyone have the info from these censuses?

I could really use some help with this as this is where I am stuck. Thanks a

million.
