"Weld lived on a 52-acre (210,000 m2) estate he named Rockweld in Dedham, most of which was surrounded by a high stone wall. He created one of the finest rock gardens in the country and employed eight gardeners. His estate had a water tower and a dozen greenhouses, one of which was dedicated to growing grapes year round.
"He built his mansion on a craggy hill with a dramatic view of the Charles River valley. Outcrops, boulders, woodlands, and ponds dotted the surrounding property, offering endless opportunities to satisfy Weld's passion for horticulture." |

- Death certificate (New Hampshire, state no. 50-0677; Ancestry coll. 61834 rec. 668925): Dudley W. Walsh died 20 Feb 1950 at Elliot Hospital, Manchester; usual residence 37 Nashua St, Manchester; married; born 1890, Ireland; age 60; occupation caretaker. Cause: malignant hypertension (3 months), with chronic nephritis (years). Physician Parker Wheat MD, attended 5 Jan - 20 Feb 1950. Burial 23 Feb 1950, St. Joseph (New) Cemetery, Manchester; funeral director Thomas J. McHugh, 292 Manchester St. Informant: Mrs. Mary Walsh, who gave his father as Peter Walsh and his mother's maiden name as 'Sarah Riordan' - WRONG: the Irish records show his mother was Honor (Nora) Conneely. It seems Mary never knew her mother-in-law's name.

| Notes |
- CENSUS EVIDENCE (National Archives of Ireland, nationalarchives.ie/collections/search-the-census), townland Letterfir, DED Killannin, Co. Galway (1901 transcribed as 'Letterfin'). Roman Catholic; Irish and English speakers.
1901: Peter 60, Honor 55, William 30, Sarah 28, Thomas 26, Patrick 23, John 21, Peter 19, Joseph 16, Martin 14, 'Diddle' [Dudley] 10.
1911: Peter 72, farmer, head, cannot read or write; Honor 69, wife, reads and writes, MARRIED 46 YEARS (=1865), 9 CHILDREN BORN, 9 LIVING; Patrick 35, Peter 25, Martin 23, Dudley 21, all single, farmer's sons.
So the 9 children are William, Sarah, Thomas, Patrick, John, Peter, Joseph, Martin and Dudley. Ages differ between censuses (pension-era inflation in 1911); child birth years here are from the 1901 ages. The Ancestry tree also attaches Mary (1866), Michael (1871), Annie (1886), Ellen (1887) and Steven (1893, b. Keelkyle, Letterfrack) - these are NOT Honor's children (she had only 9) and probably belong to a Keelkyle Walsh/Conneely family merged in by mistake. Marriage date 23 Nov 1865 per Ancestry; consistent with 46 years married in 1911.
- GRAVESTONE (photo on Ancestry, Lord of Lucies tree; cemetery not yet identified): 'O Lord have mercy on the soul of Honor Walsh who died 30th March 1914 aged 68 years. Her husband Peter who died 21st June 1923. Their sons Martin who died 29th April 1920 and Joseph who died 7th Dec. 19..' (last digits cut off in the photo).
This confirms Honor's death date (matches the civil register, 30 Mar 1914) and gives Peter's death as 21 June 1923 - so the Derrycrib Peter Walsh (d. 15 Aug 1923, age 67) is NOT him. Ancestry trees give Joseph 1884-1955 (unverified) and Martin d. 29 Apr 1920 in New York.
