Cause of death (on post mortem): apoplexy.
According to the Surrey History Centre in Woking, "We do hold collections of coroner?s inquest papers here at the Surrey History Centre, however, very few of these records have survived from earlier than 1925. A search has been made in the listings we have for the coroner's records prior to this date on your behalf and although no inquest papers survive for the Reigate area prior to 1925, there is a register of deaths and inquests (Ref: 629/1/1) in which I have located Clement Parker."

| Clement Parker Death Certificate - Christmas Day 1922 Clement Parker, age 76, died of apoplexy in a meadow at Longmead, Caterham M.D. (Military Depot?) on Christmas Day 1922. He lived at The Cottage, Longmead, and was shown as a gardener (domestic). The Coroner for Surrey, F. J. Nightingale, held an inquest on 29 Dec 1922. |

Fowler of Pontypool, exhibits nothing but orchids. These are of very fine quality, and prsent an almost infinite variety of colour, but it is a pity Mr. Fowler did not instruct his gardener to thoroughly unpack the flowers before staging them. As on Tuesday morning there was wool around them." |

Death certificate indicates Clement Parker, age 76, of The Cottage, Longmead, Catherham M.D., a gardener (domestic), died of natural causes/apoplexy, in the meadow at Longmead. The cause of death was determined by a post mortem: certificate received from F. J. Nightingale, Coroner for Surrey. An inquest was held on 29 Dec 1922.
