| Notes |
- Son of Captain William Crumpler and younger brother of William Crumpler (born about 1700). His birth year is approximate; his death date and place are not yet known.
The evidence (Southampton County, VA, records transcribed by the Brantley Association; explained by Stewart Crumpler on Find a Grave):
- 14 Mar 1750: by indenture, John Crumpler Sr. conveyed 150 acres, including his father's home plantation, to his son John Crumpler Jr. His wife Grace appeared in court the same day and relinquished her right of dower (Deed Book 1, pp 203-205).
- 29 Oct 1750: Capt. William Crumpler's will left the 100-acre plantation on which he lived to his son John (Will Book 1, pp 36-37).
- 25 Nov 1751: John Crumpler Jr. sold the same 150 acres to William Jones for 40 pounds. The deed recites that the land was Capt. William's plantation, left by will to his son John, who had passed it to his son John Jr. (Deed Book 1, pp 341-344).
This John was missing from this tree until 31 Oct 2026; his son John Jr. had been shown in his place as Capt. William's son. Correction from Stewart Crumpler, with research by Garth Matthews.
